A Few Things

First... The other day I got an envelope from the local police station. I thought that maybe it might mean that I have an interview for the visa I applied for six months ago, but instead it was a note about something involving money. After someone helped us translate it, I found out that I was paying my first round of Croatian taxes. So now I pay taxes in the US and in Croatia. You would think if I paid taxes here that I would have some form of residency, but I don't, I am in process. Oh well, I was just a little bit disappointed that I still have no clue how the process for getting my visa is coming. I guess I will know eventually, maybe after I return from being at home to visit family and support raise for a couple months.

Second... I have a new joggin buddy. There is a soccer field that my roommates and I sometimes jog on at night, and it is just a few blocks from our apartment. Earlier this week, I was jogging and noticed a dark blob running towards my feet. I woke my Ipod up so that I could use it's light to investigate. As I got closer, I thought at first it was a cat, and then a rabbit, and finally it's body came into view. I had discovered a very plump hedgehog. I yelled for Sunny and Alexis, and both came to see what I had found. I had never thought that I would find such a thing in Rijeka, but I did, and maybe I will see him again on my next jog.

Third... Tonight was a really random night. We had some of the summer project girls over for dinner and it led to an adventurous time making multiple Thai dishes. They all turned out great. As we were leaving our apartment to go to the Korzo, the garbage bag that Alexis was carrying broke, spilling smelly fiesta garbage every where. After cleaning that up and heading out, by the front door the bag that Sunny had broke open too. And after cleaning that up, the bag that the first broken bag had been placed into broke. Too much smelly garbage to deal with if I may say so. Then while watching a movie, Sunny's computer sparked and smoked. All of this was a great end to a weird day. And once again, my roommates and I said to each other, "our lives are so random!"

Fourth... CM 2007 is just two weeks away! There are six Croatians and five Americans going from Rijeka, and we are so excited. Pray for us as we travel to Korea.
