Get your dance on...

Last weekend Sunny and I went with my friend Ivana and her friends to a Maskenbal. Apparently they happen every weekend during Karnival month in these parts, and let me tell you it was quite the event. Almost everyone was dressed up for the night, except for a few creepy people who stood in the back staring at all the people in costumes, and almost everyone was dancing the night away. There was a lot of fun Croatian music, and everyone seemed to sing along with it. It was the strangest dance experience I have ever had. I won't go into details, because that could get long but here are pictures of how the night went down. Four of the five of us after getting ready...a cowgirl, a witch, a bar woman (Andreja), and a devil (Helena). Ivana is hiding behind the camera and she was a witch also. Sunny and I looking pretty good if I may say so. Three witches (Myself, Ivka, Ivana) and one friendly pirate (Mosimo)...at least I think that is what he was. Quite the party...many unique costumes, lots of dancing, a good band, and stray underwear hanging from a streamer. You never know what will happen on a night like this. A drunk, old man, masquerading as a clown. He decided to befriend Sunny. Helena, Sunny, and I escaping the craziness for a while.

Other random things of note: one nasty, nasty bathroom that should only be when absolutely necessary, two guys head butting each other outside, news of two American girls spreads like a wild fire even in a large dance party... All in all it was a really fun night, and I was able to meet a lot of Ivana's friends. Even though it was an exhausting night, these cultural experiences are too great to pass-up.
